Understand the advantages of hot runner SVG technology (Sequential Valve Gating)

Sequential Valve Gating (SVG) is a new forming technology developed in recent years to meet the needs of the automotive industry for large-scale flat-plate plastic parts or the electronic industry for mini-thin-walled parts. The theoretical model of this technology was first proposed by C-Mold (Mold-Flow) Corporation, the first GE company in the thin-walled parts of its commercial application. Although SVG technology does not have a long history, due to its good effect in shaping products, SVG has been widely used in the automotive and appliance industries, including many car companies in the country, to promote this technology.

SVG is based on the traditional hot runner mold, at each gate to set up a can be independently controlled on and off the valve. The gate is opened or closed by the hydraulic cylinder or cylinder drive, hot runner in the gate and the plunger connection is a cylindrical thimble. The use of sequential valve gate molding technology products, the general is divided into four steps in the entire process of a gate up to twice after the opening and closing.


The advantages of SVG technology can be summarized as follows

   (1) to eliminate weld marks.

   (2) reduce molding pressure and related residual stress.

   (3) reduce the molding cycle.

   (4) a more uniform pressure of distribution pressure.

   (5) In a normal mold can get a smooth melt flow.


In the molding of large plastic products, the traditional simultaneous multi-point pouring, although the melt can fill the entire cavity, but due to the presence of weld marks, it is difficult to achieve the ideal product quality requirements. SVG is easy to solve this problem.
